Emergencies
We provide a 24/7 emergency service 365 days a year for all of our clients. We do not share our 'out of hours' service with any other practice, meaning you will always see a Rowe Equine vet at weekends or evenings.
In an emergency please ring the office number. Do not ring our vets mobile numbers as this may delay the on-call vet receiving your message.
Please refrain from giving any treatment ie painkillers (Bute/Danilon) until the on-call vet has assessed your case and deemed it suitable. This is extremely important in cases of lameness & colic as it can hinder assessment & appropriate treatment.
We use an experienced veterinary answering service who field calls when the office is closed. We understand in an emergency concerned owners can be in shock and flustered, however they are highly trained in these situations and will take all the details that are necessary to pass to the vet on-call.
If you are unsure or uncertain that you require an emergency vet, please ring the office number and the vet will give you a ring to advise appropriately.
The below horse was an old chap that got cast in the stable and was unable to to get up without veterinary help, he was put under general anaesthetic to safely manoeuvre him to the field where he made a full recovery.
