All our staff are professional and dedicated with a friendly, compassionate approach to equine veterinary care.

Nelson Rowe BVM&S CertEP MRCVS

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

Many of you may have met Nelson, but for those of you who haven’t, Nelson qualified from The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies Edinburgh in 2003. From there he went to work for a practice in Somerset before taking an equine position at Rowe Veterinary Group, becoming a salaried partner in 2010. In 2011 Nelson was awarded the Royal College Certificate in Equine Practice.

He is a keen horseman who hunts and competes in Open Team Chases.

Thomasia Rowe BSc (Hons)

Director and Practice Manager

Thomasia (Massey) attended Hartpury College gaining a degree in Equine Science in 2001. She then worked in point-to-point and hunting yards and still enjoys teaching at Pony Club camp each year. Massey joined the Rowe Veterinary Group in 2005 where she worked as Head Receptionist and Administrator for the Equine Eye Clinic at the Thornbury Practice until taking up this role with Rowe Equine.

Judi Maxwell MRCVS BVSC BSc (Hons)

Veterinary Surgeon

Judi completed a degree in Animal Science before going on to graduate in Veterinary Science from Liverpool University. She worked in several specialised equine practices before joining the Rowe Equine team in August 2014. Judi enjoys the diversity of clients from those owning high level sports horses to the old family pet Shetland. Having had horses all her life she is more than happy to discuss management and more general care of your horse.

Many of you who have met Judi will know that you will quite often hear her coming before you see her as her Jack Russell terrier ‘Jack’ will be letting you know she has arrived.

In her spare time, she enjoys walking, playing tennis and visiting friends.

Richard Rowe MRCVS

Richard brings over 40 years of Veterinary experience with him to Rowe Equine. He has kept, bred and treated horses all of his working life and has worked extensively in the local equine community throughout this time. Now semi-retired, Richard assists with 24 hr emergency cover.

Kate studied BSc(Hons) Equine Dental Science at Hartpury College and graduated in 2013. Since graduating she has worked for Toby Lee and Henry Bilson at Equine

Dental Services South West Ltd as an Equine Dental Technician to continue her education and training, working with many clients including large dressage, racing and competition yards.

Emily has ridden and worked with horses since she was a child. After attending Hartpury College, she worked in a racing yard and rode in several point-to-points. Emily joined Rowe Equine in the summer of 2013 as a Equine Care Assistant, responsible for working with the vets to look after the horses staying in hospital and also sometimes assisting the vets ‘on the road’. She is also a key member of the office team.

In her spare time, Emily enjoys hunting, team chasing and eventing her horse, Jasper.
